I've seen a very noticeable speed increase since enabling the page cache option, but now another well traveled issue has surfaced, and one which I've never experienced before.

Now when I login I often find I cannot logout, and when I do logout I'll browse a few pages and I'll be shown as being logged in again. I can even login as one person, browse around and then logout, login as another person and browse around and will be show to be logged in as the previous user. All this has only started happening since I enabled page caching in Drupal, and if I disable it again I have no login/logout issues.

I've done searching of the Drupal site and this sort of issue (login / logout) seem to be mentioned a lot, but I've not found any posts directly linking it to enabling the page cache feature. Another thing I've noticed through very small amount of testing (still needs more) is that it seems if I disable HTTP gzip compression when I have Drupal page cache enabled for my site then I'm able to login and logout and browse around the site with no sessions funny business. Such a router is sometimes known as a “black hole” router.

You can locate a black hole router by using the Ping utility, which is a standard utility that is installed with the Microsoft Windows TCP/IP protocol. You can then use one of three methods of fixing or working around black hole routers.

When a network router receives a packet that is larger than the size of the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of the next segment of a communications network, and that packet’s IP layer “don’t fragment” bit is flagged, the router is expected to send an ICMP “destination unreachable” message back to the sending host.

If the router does not send a message, the packet might be dropped, causing a variety of errors that vary with the program that is communicating over the unsuccessful link. (These errors do not occur if a program connects to a computer on a local subnet.) The behavior may seem intermittent, but closer examination shows that the behavior can be reproduced, for example, by having a client read a large file that is sent from a remote host.

Viewed by:
Registered Users

http://dlzpgroup.com/node/132#comments Business Inteligence News Fri, 17 Jun 2011 12:40:11 +0000 madan777in 132 at http://dlzpgroup.com Essbase and Oracle Process Manager and Notification (OPMN) Server http://dlzpgroup.com/node/131
Oracle Process Manager and Notification server (OPMN) enables you to monitor and control the Essbase Agent process. Don't be cocky Confidence-i.e., appearing composed and sure of yourself as opposed to like a nervous wreck-is always an appealing quality. Arrogance, on the other hand, made 51 percent of employers want to kick an applicant out of their office on the spot. No matter how much of a superstar you were at your last job, don't make it sound as if you single-handedly pulled off every amazing accomplishment. Little things like bringing a latte with you, pushing aside a pile of papers on an interviewer's desk so you can plunk down your portfolio, or sneaking a glance at the clock can also make you seem self-important-as if your time and stuff are more valuable than theirs are. Another minor goof they see as arrogant: leaving your sunglasses on top of your head. Say the magic words Of course you don't want a potential boss to think you're gunning for the role of office kiss-ass, but playing it too cool can wreck your chances. 55 percent of bosses surveyed said a lack of enthusiasm is one of the biggest mistakes that a candidate make. Seriously. Get the right message across by using words like 'exciting' and 'interesting'. To show you mean it, read up on the company's history and the industry in general before the interview, and slip some of the things you learned into the conversation. Don't sound rehearsed Most of us have gotten this well-meaning advice from a career counsellor: when you're asked "What's your biggest weakness? throw out something that's actually good, like "I'm a workaholic or "I am a perfectionist and won't stop until something's done right . Yeah...whatever! 34 percent of interviewers said they definitely notice when you respond to their questions with tired cliches. Granted, you don't want to confess anything truly incriminating, but it's okay to reveal a real weakness, provided you follow it up with how you're working to correct it. Don't fail the question test There are only a few minutes left in the interview, and you get what seems like a throw-away: "Do you have any questions for me? Answering "I don't think so can mess up the awesome impression you just made, since 34 percent of bosses said they're turned off when candidates don't ask smart questions. Why? Doing so shows that you've been paying attention and indicates that you're evaluating them too-not just jumping at the first job opening you hear about. Prove you're a good listener by requesting that the interviewer elaborate on something she said earlier. And use this all-time great inquiry: "What type of people excel here? It never fails to impress!
http://dlzpgroup.com/node/82#comments Tue, 31 May 2011 07:27:56 +0000 admin 82 at http://dlzpgroup.com It seems to workxf http://dlzpgroup.com/node/74
Drupal's flexible theming system has made lots of amazing site designs possible, from the respectably contemporary White House web site to Pete Droge's Drupal-driven Flash masterpiece. What most Drupal sites don't show off, however, is what content editors work with every day: the notoriously unglamorous content creation, editing, and management screens. In both presentations, we focused on techniques for discovering what pain points are most acute for a site's editors, and common patterns for solving those problems. The response we've received at both conferences has been unanimous: "Once we know what kind of tools are needed, how can we build them in Drupal?"

The great news is that there are quite a few flexible tools to streamline your Drupal site's day-to-day content management workflow without writing any custom code. In this article we'll explore a couple of the easy wins, highlight modules that can be used to build out more complex tools, and give you some useful next steps for taming the backend beast.
http://dlzpgroup.com/node/74#comments Business Inteligence PeopleSoft Wed, 25 May 2011 09:28:15 +0000 Barry 74 at http://dlzpgroup.com NodeFormCols http://dlzpgroup.com/node/69
you are talking about when editing a node, this is related to permissions, so those fieldsets will only be displayed according to the user who is editing the node.

If you want to hide them, you could use
hook_form_alter
to alter the
$form
array. In June 2003, Oracle made a $7 billion bid in a hostile corporate takeover attempt. In February 2004, Oracle increased their bid to approximately $9.4 billion, a 33% increase; this offer was also rejected forthwith by PeopleSoft's Board of Directors. Later that month, the U.S. Department of Justice filed suit to block Oracle, on the grounds that the acquisition would break anti-trust laws. In September 2004, the suit was rejected by a U.S. Federal Judge, who found that the Justice Department had not proven its anti-trust case. In October, the same decision was handed down by the European Commission. Though Oracle had reduced its offer to $7.7 billion in May, it again raised its bid in November to $9.4 billion, marking a 14% increase. In December 2004, Oracle announced that it had signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire PeopleSoft for approximately $10.3 billion. The following January, Oracle announced plans to cut approximately 9% of the 55,000 staff of the combined companies, maintaining at least 90% of PeopleSoft's product development and support staff.[4] Oracle moved to capitalize on the perceived strong brand loyalty within the JD Edwards user community by rebranding former JD Edwards products. Thus PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne became JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and PeopleSoft World became JD Edwards World. Oracle has announced that a new product, Fusion, is to be released in the near future. Oracle says Fusion will take the best aspects of the PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and Oracle Applications and merge them into a new product suite.
http://dlzpgroup.com/node/18#comments Oracle Oracle Fri, 22 Apr 2011 12:01:04 +0000 user1 18 at http://dlzpgroup.com Flexibility and Complexity - Risk versus Reward Tradeoff http://dlzpgroup.com/node/11
One major item that differentiates Oracle from PeopleSoft is the flexibility of Oracle's product to adapt to a client's business needs. You can attach an eligibility profile to a program, plan type (like health plans), option, coverage and so on. PeopleSoft was good at providing flexibility, too, but not to this degree. Within Oracle, you can configure eligibility on almost every form, even at the deduction code level or at the element level itself! All of these places that can potentially limit eligibility are potentially dangerous, dependending on how you look at things! In my opinion, this flexibility comes at a cost. The cost as I see it is that there are so many configuration fields displayed at different levels that it is hard to ensure that you have the configuration set up properly. Another issue is the added complexity of the configuration. For example, the eligibility rules that I mentioned above cascade down the configuration chain, from program, plan type, and option; so you have to ensure that your higher level rules aren't too restrictive and that the lower level eligibility rules aren't opening an option that shouldn't be available to an employee.

Viewed by:
All Users

http://dlzpgroup.com/node/11#comments Business Business Tue, 19 Apr 2011 11:57:38 +0000 admin 11 at http://dlzpgroup.com Impressions from the front line http://dlzpgroup.com/node/10 Wow! What a difference a year makes.... I'm out here at the Oracle conference and I can't help but compare this event to PeopleSoft Connect. This event has the attendance of a small city. Everywhere you look you have long lines to get into sessions, go to the bathroom, get lunch, etc. much different than last year at Connect because Connect was a third of the size. Attendance at the sessions that I preregistered for is very difficult since Oracle has not only moved the session location, but also moving the day/time of the session, which frustrates me to no end. Why did I have to register in the first place if they are going to change it all up anyway? It must be a logistics nightmare for them. Other attendees that I've talked to are not impressed so far with the event. The feedback that I've received so far is that this conference does not have enough depth from an apps perspective to justify attendance. Many client and fellow consultants are questioning whether to attend next year or make other plans to attend the OUAG event instead. I think Oracle will have a lot of unhappy/frustrated clients and users on their hands after this conference. I anticipate many changes for next year. Today Larry Ellison is delivering a keynote, so it should be interesting to hear what he has to say about the future direction. As far as the Fusion product, I've listened to a lot of speakers talk about the direction/path to fusion, but not a lot of specifics have been communicated that paint a clear picture of what the future will look like and how clients are going to get there. I was hoping to provide some clarity to everyone, but so far I'm failing. I do know of some key enablers that will be inherent in the Fusion product. These include: Customer Hub - a common foundation for customer data that will consolidate fragmented customer data that currently rests in duplicate tables across the data models. http://dlzpgroup.com/node/10#comments Tue, 19 Apr 2011 11:56:42 +0000 admin 10 at http://dlzpgroup.com Implementing Oracle HRMS http://dlzpgroup.com/node/9 They pushed for customers to upgrade on the call which I thought was interesting. Why should customers upgrade if Oracle has promised lifetime support? I'm not sure what will drive customers to go to Fusion, especially if Fusion will be on a new database(for SQL customers) and have a new tech stack. It seems as though the learning curve and "buginess" of the Fusion app will drive people to stay on their current app till forced to upgrade their infrastructure(if needed), database and skillsets to support the new product. Oracle expressed the view that customers might be surprised on just how much work they have done on the new application and that they are excited about how Fusion will help clients out. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the level of detail provided on the call, but was happy to hear they were making progress with the development. We've been hearing so much about the release that I hope when it does come out it will live up to all of the hype. http://dlzpgroup.com/node/9#comments Tue, 19 Apr 2011 11:55:49 +0000 admin 9 at http://dlzpgroup.com Fusion Project Strategy Notes http://dlzpgroup.com/node/8 Earlier last month I listened in on an Oracle call addressing how the company was addressing their promised "Fusion" product. It was more-or-less a status update that did not really specify any juicy details of the product suite, but it did provide some perspective on how the company was architecting for the future. The key elements that I drew from the call were: - Restated life-time support for products, but still didn't state the fine print. We will see where/how this promise is kept in the future. - The Fusion product will use the Oracle e-Business database as the starting point for the Fusion database. Not much was said about support for other databases (i.e. SQL) - Squelched rumors that Oracle is merging code. Leadership stated that they are writing new code based on specs from both Oracle and PeopleSoft products. - Oracle is building the new application in the new Fusion Structure. By the conversation, it sounds like new development tools were created (a new PeopleTools like development platform) and they are now coding the app on this new platform. - Oracle has stated that it is their goal to provide 80% of their Customers who want to upgrade to the Fusion a product where they will have NO loss of functionality. They didn't elaborate on this, but I find this to be a rather ambitious goal. - Oracle will provide automated upgrade scripts to customers who want to go to the Fusion product. They also mentioned providing/sharing test scripts with customers, although they didn't provide any details on this as well. - They stated that the BAM technology from PeopleSoft will be deployed across the application. They stated examples of the call center and CRM solutions currently utilizing this technology. I'm am vaguely familiar with the BAM technology, so I'm not sure what this means. http://dlzpgroup.com/node/8#comments Tue, 19 Apr 2011 11:55:09 +0000 admin 8 at http://dlzpgroup.com Enterprise Application Implementation http://dlzpgroup.com/node/7 User Acceptance Testing is an essential part of all Projects to implement new Enterprise Software Systems. Irrespective of the Enterprise Application used and the type of Industry where the selected Enterprise Application is implemented, UAT becomes a critical success factor. UAT normally gets lesser attention considering the efforts invested on the implementation phases prior to UAT leading to severe breakages on go live. Involvement of qualified and experienced external consultants during UAT to bring in expertise and objective vision can add value to the implementation.
